Blocking abnormal stem cell signal during aging lessens related bone loss
A cellular signal essential to development of the skeleton increases abnormally during aging to weaken bones.
This abnormal signal disrupts normal bone homeostasis, leading to increased bone resorption and decreased bone density. The authors suggest that blocking this signal may be a potential therapeutic strategy for age-related bone loss.
