Our peptides are delivered as lyophilized (freeze-dried) powders, which are resistant to short-term temperature fluctuations during transport. At room temperature, peptides in powder form remain stable for several weeks — but proper storage is still essential to preserve integrity.
Before use in research, the lyophilized powder must be reconstituted by mixing it with an appropriate solvent to form a solution. Accurate reconstitution is vital so the peptide retains its potency and bioactivity for further research and trials.
As with all research work, successful peptide reconstitution requires absolute sterility and cleanliness. Begin by thoroughly washing your hands and donning sterile protective gloves and eyewear. Ensure your workspace is impeccably clean and that you have all the necessary tools:
Cleanliness and sterility of the environment are critical for accurate, reproducible research results.
Reconstitution requires careful selection of the solvent based on the specific properties of the peptide. We recommend and supply bacteriostatic water for this purpose.
Before reconstituting, make sure the peptide powder and solvent — if stored cold — are brought to room temperature. Using them while still cold can interfere with the reconstitution process.
Carefully remove the central part of the vial's metal cap and disinfect the top surface with an alcohol swab. This step is crucial for maintaining sterility. Repeat the same cleaning process for the solvent vial.
Precise handling matters when adding solvent to lyophilized peptide. Using a sterile syringe, carefully withdraw the required amount of solvent and slowly inject it into the peptide vial. Tilt the vial at a 45° angle to let the solvent gently run down the interior wall.
This method minimizes bubbles and foam, ensuring smooth and even dissolution of the peptide.
Proper storage of lyophilized peptide powder is essential for stability. Store the powder at a minimum of +4°C for short-term use, and ideally at -20°C or lower for long-term storage. Once reconstituted, peptide solutions have a limited shelf life — consider freezing aliquots to extend viability.
In general, peptide solutions remain stable for 3 or more weeks at +4°C and 3–4 months at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, as these can compromise peptide integrity.
