Qinggong and parkour emerged in different cultural-historical settings, yet both address the practical problem of negotiating obstacles efficiently. This study examines how historically situated Qinggong training ideas might serve as heuristic resources for contemporary parkour pedagogy. A cross-cultural conceptual comparative design was applied to a purposively and theoretically sampled corpus comprising Qinggong and Wushu manuals and historical texts, contemporary Chinese Wushu scholarship, parkour sociocultural and pedagogical literature, biomechanical, physiological, and injury-related studies, and relevant movement-science research. Sources were compared in terms of movement problems, technical categories, landing and impact management, balance and environmental adaptation, physical and perceptual demands, and principles of skill progression. The comparison identifies functional and pedagogical correspondences in movement continuity, landing control, constrained-support balance, variable-environment practice, repetitive training, and gradual increases in task difficulty. These findings suggest that traditional Qinggong training methods may offer valuable insights for the development of parkour coaching, particularly in terms of emphasizing movement continuity, landing control, and balance. The proposed applications for formal parkour coaching, including using landing sound as feedback, diversifying fall-management drills, and manipulating support-surface and visual constraints, are grounded in the identified correspondences. A foundation–specialization–practice framework is also proposed, which progresses from movement literacy and risk management to modular skill development and representative obstacle routes. The identified correspondences provide a theory-building and hypothesis-generating model whose transferability requires biomechanical testing and pedagogical intervention research across age groups, training levels, and cultural settings.
