Popular Ice Cream Bars Recalled by at Least One Supermarket

In a time when specialty ice cream brands fill the supermarket freezer case, good ol’ Good Humor still makes products under classic chocolate bar brand names, like Reese’s and Almond Joy.

Those happen to be the two flavors of Good Humor ice cream bars reportedly being removed from market, according to an August 12 recall notice from the Northeastern grocery chain, Tops.

What you need to know

Tops says Magnum Ice Cream Company is recalling “all” code dates of 12-ounce, six-count boxes of Reese’s and Almond Joy Good Humor ice cream bars. The notice states Magnum “conducted an internal review which showed that certain nutritional information was inaccurately declared on the nutritional panel on the carton.”

It’s not confirmed whether this issue would affect individuals with food allergies, sensitivities, or intolerances.

The greater Buffalo, NY-headquartered grocer, with locations in New York, Pennsylvania, and Vermont, says their customers who purchased either of these Good Humor products “are to be given a full refund with proof of purchase.” The UPC for Reese’s ice cream bars is 00084047340024, and for Almond Joy is 00084047340029.

This is the third known ice cream recall in recent weeks, following a Pennsylvania-based regional dairy’s recall of their ice cream ingredients from Dairy Queen locations due to concern that foreign matter was present in some soft-serve blends.
