An independent statistical review of the data, conducted by the UBC Applied Statistics and Data Science Group, substantiated the study's findings. The review found that Mokalla et al.'s replication attempt failed to reproduce the study's results due to incorrect use of raw, unprocessed data variables. The authors clarify that these variables require further data processing to obtain final exposure variables, and that the use of these variables in the replication attempt was not accurate. The independent statistician, using identical datasets provided to Mokalla et al., confirmed the study's conclusions.
